I was just about to make my list
of things to do,
when I remembered that
I am
is a complete sentence.
I have a confession: Within My Illusions (The Listening Experience) dropped on music streaming services on August 22, 2022 and I haven't publicized it yet. I'm so excited about the result of this creative collaboration with composer Orlando Villarraga! I really wanted to have everything ready to share this week, including the story behind its development and an online store that will allow you to purchase the album directly from my website (which is a great way for you to support the work if you feel moved to do so). Orlando and I also have in-person events in the works that I'd love to invite you to, but there are pieces that still need to fall into place before I can share those.
I was beginning to feel overwhelmed by all the details I needed to attend to for these and other projects (in addition to the day-to-day tasks of living). As I shared my to-do list with a friend, she reminded me to breathe. "You can loosen the reigns on the timeline a bit, maybe?"
There's a voice in my inner dialogue that's obsessed with productivity. This voice kept telling me I was being lazy. It took a little convincing to let go of the conditioned response to push harder to get more done. But I did. And I know that giving myself the chance to pause tends to create space for meaningful connection with myself and with those close to me. I also trust that the website and event details will come into form in just the right timing. I look forward to sharing them with you when they do.
