What Really Matters

At the first of the year, I posed the question: What matters most to you as we begin this new calendar year? My intention was to assemble a collective poem with the words and phrases. I took all the responses I received and wrote them out on paper so I could sit with them. Then I typed them all out and played with different ways of stringing them together. Looking at the words on paper and screen, I wasn't satisfied. Then I decided to read the words aloud. Through the resonance of sound, the "poem" became transformed into a prayer.

Earlier this week, I recorded a video of myself reading the poem. Something really cool happened with the sunlight at the end of the video—I couldn’t have planned it if I’d tried!
